CNN’s Anderson Cooper Clings To Mueller Probe In Condemnation Of Trump Presser

Now that mainstream media pundits and talking heads are all spouting the same talking points about President Donald Trump’s performance at his joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin, what is becoming very obvious is that a good many of said talkers and influencers actually believe that the Robert Mueller probe into the 2016 election is something more than a hamster wheel to get a bunch of Democratic lawyers off the street.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper is a case in point.

After CNN aired live coverage of the press conference, Anderson Cooper went on air and described the president’s performance as “disgraceful.” He said, “You have been watching perhaps one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president at a summit in front of a Russian leader, that I have ever seen.”

Why? Because Mueller’s boss Rod Rosenstein announced on Friday that twelve Russian intelligence figures have been indicted for phishing in the Democratic National Committee’s emails in 2016, and publishing them on two different websites (among other things). These actions were sold to the public as “hacking” (no actual hacking took place) and the mainstream media was really hoping this action would drive a wedge between Trump and Putin.

The big boys didn’t fall for it.

During the press conference, Russian meddling in the 2016 election was raised. In response, Putin said, “I had to reiterate things I said several times, including during our personal contacts, that the Russian state has never interfered and is not going to interfere into internal American affairs including election process.”

The president of the United States may have been expected to strongly condemn the attack on American democracy. Instead, he said that he and Putin “Spent a great deal of time talking about it and President Putin may very well want to address it and very strongly because he feels very strongly about it and he has an interesting idea.”

He continued by attacking the United States investigation into the attack perpetrated by Putin in 2016. He said, “The probe is a disaster for our country. I think it’s kept us separated. There was no collusion at all. Everybody knows it,” Trump said just days after Mueller indicted 12 Russian intelligence officers for hacking Democratic servers during the 2016 campaign.

And that’s the crux that is driving the mainstream media and their followers insane. Trump has no use for Mueller probe itself. It has been, as he rightly points out, amazingly divisive with no actual “collusion” which is not illegally proven. Plus, if he and Putin talked it out, and Putin wants to deal with his own people in his own way, why should we object?

Just because the mainstream media has an expectation does not mean Trump is going to follow it. And that has the talking heads spinning.
