One of the reasons that We the People out on the fruited plain don’t bother to watch Congressional hearings anymore is not just that they are show trials of sorts just to give Congresscritters a floor for grandstanding, but that they are unbelievably repetitive. It’s like there is no coordination to ask a logical progression of questions. Oh, no, every opposing “lawmaker” has to get in his or her soundbite resulting in the same thing being asked over and over.
And most of the time, the poor cabinet member or government official on the hot seat in front of them just takes it, like they are being paid to do so.
On Tuesday, one Trump Cabinet member said, “ENOUGH.” She is DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, and she went off on Senate Democrats who sit on the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Nielsen was testifying at the Senate Judiciary Committee, where five Democrats each made a point of asking her about Trump’s reported comment. She said several times that she never heard Trump say those words, but when Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., raised it for the fourth time, Nielsen said enough was enough.
“Sir, respectfully, I have answered this,” she said. “I’ve been very patient with this line of questioning. I’m here to tell you about the threats our country faces and the needs and authorities that are needed by the Department of Homeland Security.”
“I have nothing further to say about a meeting that happened over a week ago,” she added. “I’d like to move forward and discuss ways in which we can protect our country.”
Oh, wait. She can’t do that. If she does that, then the Senate Democrats can’t harp on whether or not President Donald Trump said the word $#@!hole in relation to third world countries in a closed-door meeting, thus proving that the man who financed humanitarian aid to Haiti and opened his golf clubs to blacks and Jews is a raging racist and feeding fuel to the narrative that says he is despite all evidence to the contrary.
No, she can’t do that. Not all the Democrats got in their soundbites before she snapped and wanted to get onto real business.
And yet she did. Hallelujah.
Now, can we talk about the threats that illegal aliens pose to the nation?
