NY Bomber Father Reported Him To FBI – Part Of A Pattern Of Feds Ignoring A Threat

The father of Ahmad Khan Rahami, who is currently in a New York hospital charged with five counts of attempted murder for a shootout with police, reported his son to the FBI two years ago. Now he’s a terrorist following his weekend, two-state bombing rampage in New York and New Jersey.

According to Mohammad Rahami, he notified the FBI that his son was potentially turning to terrorism in 2014. He spoke to reporters outside his home in Elizabeth, NJ, telling them, “Two years I called the FBI, my son, he’s doing very bad, OK?” But they check it almost two months… They say he’s not a terrorist. I said, ‘OK.’ Now they say he is a terrorist. I say, ‘OK.'”

The elder Rahami was concerned about his son being interested in gang activity and watching violent videos. Fox News reported that the FBI’s Newark field office conducted an investigation but determined there was no basis to proceed further. According to Fox reporter Rick Leventhal, “Our source said that those allegations washed out. Rahami was not deemed suspicious at that time. Now, they’re revisiting that.”

How is it that the father’s concerns were so easily dismissed when taken in combination with the multiple trips to his native Afghanistan and a recent year-long trip to Pakistan? That’s more than a little concerning when taken in the context of other terrorists who have made similar trips. Some of them were discounted as not a threat as well.

Omar Mateen, the Orlando terrorist made two trips to Saudi Arabia and also visited the United Arab Emirates between 2011 and 2012 for the Muslim religious pilgrimage known as Umrah. Mateen was on an FBI list of suspected ISIS sympathizers and was also investigated and determined not to by a threat not once but twice, in 2013 and 2014.

DHS whistleblower Philip Haney has previously stated that in 2012, as an agent with U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s National Targeting Center, he was investigating a Sunni Islamic group called, Tablighi Jamaat, a subset of the fundamentalist Deobandi organization. His investigation was shut down by the State Department and the DHS Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, according to Haney, because it is the policy of this federal government not to profile Islamic groups. The evidence collected was also destroyed. He has stated unequivocally that had he not been shut down his investigation would very likely have prevented the San Bernardino attack.

There does seem to be a pattern of deliberately avoiding enforcement and investigative actions whenever possible. The leadership of DHS, Jeh Johnson, blabs incessantly about his CVE, countering violent extremism program of butt kissing for terrorist suspect and financial rewards for not attacking us. This regime has long ago corrupted the training and threat evaluation and identification processes.

The message is clear and it comes straight from the top. It’s the same as the one delivered to Border Patrol Agents – ignore your oath, don’t do your job and let the American people fend for themselves.
