Did A 16 Year Old Really HACK The CIA?
Back in October, an anonymous hacker claimed to have accessed the CIA system. He released documents online to support his claim.
The files contained a list of email addresses supposedly from Director John Brennan’s contact file. There was also a log of phone calls by then-deputy director Avril Haines and other documents including a spreadsheet of people like senior intelligence officials. This hack was not his only one.
He also claimed to have infiltrated a Comcast account belonging to Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson. What appeared to be some of Johnson’s personal information was offered as evidence of the breach.
Early this week, more information was made public. Details about 20,000 FBI employees and 9,000 Homeland Security agents were put online.
Until Tuesday, the only description of the tech-savvy criminal had come from the New York Post. A reporter for the NYP spoke to the hacker and described him as “a stoner high school student.”
3 days ago, the FBI an d British authorities arrested the person they believe to be responsible for the CIA hack and the DHS hack. Turns out, the reporter was pretty accurate.
The suspect taken into custody was said by officials to be a “16-year-old computer nerd.”
Calling himself “cracka,” the young man said that he has conducted his attacks for the cause of Palestinian freedom. The group he operates with is called Crackas With Attitude. They back the “Free Palestine” movement. His primary motivation is “his opposition to US foreign policy and support for Palestinians.”
The alleged hacker has been charged with “multiple counts of suspicion of conspiracy to commit unauthorized access to computer material” . A known associate revealed that “cracka” has been released on bail. A Twitter account thought to belong to the suspect tweeted “Anyone got a good lawyer?!?!?”
Here’s my suggestion. Let’s make the best of the situation. Have the FBI broker a deal for reduced charges in exchange for him taking a whack at Hillary’s server.
