BULLSEYE: Target Shoppers Speak, Hit Retailer Where It Hurts With Losses Stacking Up

In the ultimate bid to be with it, and hip, Target, the retailer that wants to be the be all and end all in convenience shopping, recently declared that they would allow “transgendered” people to use the rest room of their choice.

Reminder to retailers and politicians everywhere: YOU DIDN’T ASK WE THE PEOPLE IF WE WANTED MEN IN DRAG IN THE LADIES’ ROOM.

After that pronouncement and at least one man dressing as a woman to get into the ladies room for clandestine pictures of girl parts, the retailer is trying to stare down a boycott petition with over a million signatures on it of Americans refusing to shop there unless the bathroom policy is changed to only allowing adolescents and adults with the gender parts matching the sign on the door to be in either rest room.

“That’s a million families who are going to spread the word about Target, so they may not get those customers back,” or their money, said Tim Wildmon, president of the American Family Association, which has hosted the boycott.

Target’s management is just going to have step up here [and] say ‘We’re selling hammers and hats, we’re not into social engineering,’” he said.

For it’s part, Target acknowledges the concern, but stuck to its guns on the “progressive” stance they took.

“We certainly respect that there are a wide variety of perspectives and opinions. As a company that firmly stands behind what it means to offer our team an inclusive place to work — and our guests an inclusive place to shop — we continue to believe that this is the right thing for Target, company spokeswoman Molly Snyder said April 25.

Yeah, well, INVESTORS, and the institutional fund groups that have money sunk into the retailer, as in the people who own stock in Target, see the #BoycottTarget petition as a problem, and have a fear that the corporate body doesn’t seem to: a nose dive in profits.  As of Thursday evening, Target’s stock price dropped $2.65 per share accumulating a loss of value of $1.5 billion dollars for the retailer.  What they understand is that the American people, when riled, can be a force to be reckoned with.  And We the People have a BIG problem with just taking the word of a man in a dress that he is not a danger to females of any age in the rest room.

The transgender bathroom situation pits social forces against each other in such a way that the retailer will lose a lot of business if their customers can’t be guaranteed safety within the walls of the store. That is the point that’s being made.  And that’s what’s going to make Target hurt in the worst way.
