BREAKING NEWS: Preacher GUNNED Down In Pulpit

Officers and paramedics were called to St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio this morning. There was a report that shots had been fired.

Squad cars blocked off access to the church  via Nancy Avenue and Keturah Drive while they investigated.

Members of the church were questioned by authorities and reporters. Witnesses stated that  a man walked in and opened fire on the congregation’s preacher.

Just before 1:30 PM law enforcement officers led a suspect in handcuffs out of the building. The man was placed into the back of a police car.

Officials have confirmed that the preacher was the victim of a homicide. He died on the scene as a result of the injuries he sustained during the incident.

Crime scene tape was erected, barring the public from the property until the investigation is complete.

According to those present, the shooting took place at the pulpit while the choir was performing a song.

The victim has been identified as 70 year old William Schooler. The preacher’s body was taken to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office following the incident.

Ronnie Moreland, a friend and fellow leader of the community, spoke to reporters about Schooler. “He was a beloved leader. It’s hard to put into words what has happened.
He stated that Schooler had served as an interim president on the Dayton Public Schools Board of Education and was the current president of the Baptist Ministers Union in Dayton. “He had deep roots in the community,” Moreland said.

Moreland and other leaders have planned a press conference for later today.

Police made it known that the suspect taken into custody is the preacher’s brother, Daniel Gregory Schooler. They believe the event to be a domestic violence situation and have stated that, to their knowledge, there is no threat to the general public.
An inquiry into the suspect has already been initiated by authorities.
The town, in the meantime, is in a state of shock and mourning at the loss of a pillar of their community.
