American Murdered With WHAT In Caribbean?
A romantic walk on the beach turned tragic for a couple vacationing in the Caribbean.
A 39 year old American woman and her husband were staying at a resort in Grenada. Like most tourists, they decided to indulge themselves with a walk on the beach.
The couple found a deserted stretch of beach and began a romantic stroll. That’s when things went horribly awry.
A man attacked the couple wielding a cutlass. Seriously, a cutlass.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with this particular weapon, it’s a type of sword.
Like something out of “Pirates of the Caribbean,” the assailant ran the woman through with the blade. Her husband was, somehow, able to make his escape.
With no Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom on hand to dispatch the blackguard, he left the scene.
Shortly thereafter, though, he walked to the station and turned himself in to police. The attacker has been identified as ex-convict David Martin Benjamin.
Benjamin admitted to committing the crime. It turns out, he had recently been released from prison.
The wife’s body was later discovered near the water.
Other travelers described the stretch of beach where the incident took place as “totally deserted.” Sue Hardy, a journalist, stated “No one can see you there – but of course nobody can see if anyone attacks you there.” She also told reporters “I wouldn’t venture on to that other, hidden, beach again.”
The couple, whose names have not been released, where staying at La Sagesse. It is a resort located southeast of St. George’s, the capital of Grenada.
This is something that officials in Grenada would probably have liked to keep to themselves. It’s one thing to warn tourists how to keep themselves safe from sunburn. It is entirely another to have to post signs cautioning against cutlass carrying ex-cons.
