For decades, chemical giant turned agricultural company, Monsanto has been preaching to all and sundry that their current cash cow glyphosate (now that saccharine, Agent Orange, and a few other non-organic substances have either been banned or fallen out of favor) is safe for humans to consume.
During an interview with French cable channel Canal+, Patrick Moore, a lobbyist for Monsanto stuck to the party line insisting that the herbicide, the main active ingredient in the company’s Roundup product, is harmless. Â This inspired the reporter interviewing him to offer Mr. Moore a glass. Â Responding, “I’m not stupid,” Mr. Moore refused and walked off the interview set. Â Watch:
Given that a number of countries have seen a marked increase in birth defects and incidents of cancer since Roundup made its debut in their agricultural systems, and that “last Friday, the World Health Organization’s cancer-research arm, the International Agency for Research on Cancer, classified the widely used herbicide as ‘probably carcinogenic to humans…’”  Monsanto has some explaining to do.
Writer’s note: don’t look for Roundup or any Monsanto produced product to be banned or pulled from the shelves in the United States any time soon. Â They have a revolving door type cozy relationship and employee exchange program going with the Department of Agriculture. Â Don’t believe it? Â Check this out.
