President Obama’s plan to keep 5 million or more illegal aliens here has been smashed.  In New Orleans today the Federal Appeals court slashed Obama’s executive order in a 2-1 ruling.  The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a Texas-based federal judges injunction to block Obama’s immigration plan initiative.

Last November, when Obama announced this plan and gave the executive order to implement it, the Republicans criticized it as an executive overreach.  Congress makes laws, not the President or the Supreme Court.  Twenty-six states sued Obama for his abuse of powers.

The administration stated that it was in their rights to defer deportation of selected immigrants and their children.  They also argued that the judge, abused his discretion with a nationwide order and the twenty-six states lacked standing to challenge Obama’s executive orders.

A 70 page majority opinion by the judge, Jerry Smith have rejected this argument of Obama’s administration.

The Associated Press states, “Part of the initiative included expansion of a program called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, protecting young immigrants from deportation if they were brought to the U.S. illegally as children. The other major part, Deferred Action for Parents of Americans, would extend deportation protections to parents of U.S. citizens and permanent residents who have been in the country for years.”

Texas governor Gregg Abbot praised the ruling.  “Obama should abandon his lawless executive amnesty program and start enforcing the law today,” he said.

In 1970  there were fewer than a million Mexican immigrants in the United States.  Today ,there are between 25 million and 50 million Mexican immigrants, depending on whose estimate of the illegal population you accept. That’s not including babies born to illegal immigrants, who are instantly labeled “Americans.”  There are a lot more than 11 million illegal immigrants here and Americans are being lied to about that number.

This is a huge setback for Obama, we’ll have to wait and see how this unfolds.
