This picture looks bad because it is bad. In this short video there are many instances such as this that make you just shake your head and wonder what is going on; what is the government doing?
We had approval and funding to build 754 miles of border fence, double-layered with a service road in between back in 2006, through an effort spearheaded by Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA).
Then-DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff succeeded in blocking construction of much of it, arguing that it would be smarter to use technology instead of a physical barrier whenever possible. His successors have continued that open borders stance, with our present disaster being the result of those efforts.
As it turns out, that technology, we are told, didn’t perform as expected and time passed, leaving us with still no fence and a worse problem.
In 2007 the New York Times reported that DHS expected “to gain control of the border with Mexico over the next five years at a cost of $7.6 billion, according to a December report from DHS to Congress.â€
That obviously didn’t pan out either.
The fence is largely unconstructed and what we do have is a far cry from what Rep Hunter fought so hard to have constructed before leaving office.
This section of fence in the video is in the area of Naco, AZ. Once again, when the challenge is to underperform or stonewall on an issue, those behind the scenes who are manipulating this push to de-Americanize the United States have no equal.
What passes for border security in America would be laughed at or considered an insult in most of the rest of the world.
The contributors of this video, friends of mine who deal with this issue on a daily basis, donated the footage but prefer to remain anonymous. That is why some of the editing appears choppy in the video, to honor their wishes.
They hope to help bring attention to the dangerous reality of the border and the mockery that we have instead of true security. While our politicians all acknowledge that the American public is at risk, here’s a firsthand look at the pathetic inadequacy that passes for a secure fence.
