An unbelievable new gun ad encourages kids to commit a series of crimes by stealing their parents’ guns and turning them over to school officials.
Sleeper 13 Productions is the San Francisco-based company that released the video on Dec. 13. It shows a young boy sneaking into his mother’s room, going through her dresser drawer, and finding her gun. He puts the gun into his backpack and heads to school. The eerie music played in the background leads one to think that something bad is about to happen. They pan out to show a classroom full of students and of course “school shooting” is what comes to mind. But instead, when the boy pulls out the gun, he hands it to his teacher and says,
“Can you take this away? I don’t feel safe with a gun in my house.â€
My jaw dropped. Not only is this PSA telling kids to steal from their parents, it is also encouraging them to handle a firearm they may not know how to handle properly. Even worse, it paints a picture that it is okay to bring a gun to school, around OTHER kids who could hurt or kill someone.
On youtube, the video has received 9,000 down votes and only 66 up votes.
Judging by the comments, youtube viewers and I share the same view. One person wrote,
“Please think before sharing this video with any children or friends. This video encourages children to commit several crimes:
1. weapons theft
2. unlawful possession of a weapon by a minor
3. illegal concealed carry of a weapon
4. carrying a weapon onto school property
(bonus) likely mandatory expulsion from school.
Rather, encourage children to discuss their concerns with their parents.”
Another viewer said,
“Okay, so this kid stole his mom’s gun–a detail she doesn’t know. Now if an intruder comes into the house with a gun she is going to lose precious time going to get the gun she thinks is there instead of grabbing another makeshift weapon, hiding, and calling 911. I wonder if that misguided child will feel safe at that moment? Totally asinine! ”
My God, what were these liberals think? My guess, they weren’t.
