Our fellow British spin-offs, the Australians, are having some trouble with their freeloaders, uh, asylum seeking muslims.  Given the nature of the complaint, don’t say you weren’t warned.  Coming soon to the United States and Canada:

“Requiring schoolchildren to sing the national anthem, and the citizenship pledge supporting democratic values, are a part of an oppressive campaign by Australian authorities of ‘forced assimilation’ of the Muslim community”.

Hizb-ut-Tahrir spokesman, Unthman Badar

All together now: W— T– F—?!  Yes, you read that right.  The people taking refuge in the prosperous and erstwhile peaceful nations of “the west” are being told that it is oppressive to expect the guests to pledge allegiance to the country that took them in.  Hate to tell the muslim ingrates this, but, uh, in OUR culture, the larger one that is allowing these people to stay for their safety supposedly, that’s just considered rude.

(Yes, I realize Australia is in the eastern hemisphere and the southern one for that matter, but let’s face it, it WAS a British penal colony.)

AND it isn’t simply the singing of the Australian national anthem, which advances a “disputed” version of history according to Badar who was speaking at a conference held by an Islamic group.  Other objections according to The Australian are:

Muslims were expected to not just be gracious about Australian values, but publicly promote them, Mr Badar said.

This imposition of secular western values was reflected in the oath when taking out citizenship, Mr Badar said, with new citizens required to pledge allegiance to Australia “whose democratic beliefs I share”.

“It’s not enough that you obey the law, no, you have to adopt our values,” Mr Badar told the conference.

Similarly, Mr Badar said, schoolchildren were required to sing the national anthem, which he said, “reflects a disputed view of history”.

If you don’t share those values, why should they be forced to sing it?” Mr Badar said.

The comments follow a backlash from many politicians and commentators to news last week that the principal of a Victorian primary school had excused Muslim students from singing Advance Australia Fair.

Mr Badar said the campaign by government and agencies against radicalisation was actually a smokescreen to “make Muslims less Islamic”.

“It is nothing less than forced assimilation … sought to be justified by exaggerated fear of a security threat,” he said.

Government efforts to promote what it bills as a moderate form of Islam might on occasion “buy out some Imam”, Mr Badar said, but overall, “the attempt to reform Islam is doomed to failure.”

Yeah, there’s no need to elaborate any further on this guy’s rhetoric and “rah-rah go team” cheerleading to his fellow muslims.  It’s the same as it is everywhere else.  They want to live in economically prosperous countries, and be free to reject the very cultural norms that make the countries cohesive, prosperous, and successful, live off the largess and be free to kill us if they want.  Counter-productivity doesn’t mean much to them.

Islamists want we Christians to reform, but ask muslims to make a sacrifice and we’re discriminating against them.  Wow.

This goes without saying, but this writer and the people at Clash Daily and PamelaGeller.com are saying the same thing: if you don’t like it in Christian, democratic type nations, you can leave.
