A Philadelphia resident shot a burglar after authorities say he masturbated on a woman’s deck and then stole her dog.

The suspected burglar has been identified as Angel Suarez Medero. Police say Medero climbed onto the balcony of a second-floor apartment in Franklin Commons on the 1000 block of Bobolink Drive in Bensalem Sunday around 8:40 p.m.

I was sitting on the couch,” said the woman, who was inside the apartment at the time. “My dogs started freaking out. They went up to the door and I looked up and I could see from my living room that there was a man on my deck.”

The woman ran to her neighbor’s home as the burglar broke through the sliding-glass door and entered the apartment. He then allegedly took one of the woman’s dogs and jumped out a second-floor window.
Investigators say Medero broke into another apartment on the first floor and attacked two residents inside.

A struggle ensued, and a resident inside the apartment pulled out a gun and opened fire, striking the suspect twice, police said.
The gun wounds didn’t have the desired effect as Medero continued to fight with the resident, even after being shot. Eventually, responding police officers were able to subdue him.
Suarez Medero was rushed to Aria-Torresdale Hospital where he underwent surgery. He remained in critical condition early Monday.

Police said they would not be pressing charges against the resident who opened fire. Suarez Medero, however, will face burglary, assault, and related offenses once he is well enough to be charged.
The woman who was in the first apartment Suarez Medero allegedly broke into told NBC10 her dog ran away during the ordeal.
The dog, named Ollie, is a 4-year-old, penny-colored long-haired dachshund and weighs approximately 17 pounds.

“I’m just scared that he’s somewhere hurt,” she said. “He didn’t have a collar on him because it chokes him when we go out.”
