Movoto said in a blog post that they analyzed 500,000 unique tweets from around the country to compose the map, using a computer algorithm to score tweets based on spelling, grammar and word choice.

The group found that California, New Mexico and Mississippi were among the states with the lowest average level of intelligence.

On the other end? Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, New Hampshire and Massachusetts were among states with the highest IQ’s.

  1. Did anyone else notice that the article identifies Montana and North Dakota as states among the “highest” IQ’s, but do NOT mention Wyoming and South Dakota, which are identified by the map as having Higher IQ’s than their neighbors immediately to the north ? It appears that the writer has insufficient IQ to identify which states are which.

This looks like something the Administration would use to further tweak the nose of Americans.

The true moron in this “study” is the person who created the map.

  4. Al Franken won by fraud, but you are correct, anyone who voted for him is brain dead.

Tell me again why Minnesota is so smart, when they vote for people live Jesse Ventura (governor) and Al Franken (senator)?

let me guess liberal states scored high and conservative states scored low ….huh imagine that?

  9. Here’s another funny thing…according to the article California should be considered one of the lowest states, meaning it should be dark blue according to the color coding system they used. However on the graph it’s light red meaning it’s one of the smarter states. Direct quote from the article: “The group found that California, New Mexico and Mississippi were among the states with the lowest average level of intelligence.” Color Coding System: Dark Blue=4.246, Red=5.7 Cali is Light Red which equals above average not below average. However I do agree Twitter is the worst fucking place to determine the Intelligence of a particular state’s population.

Does anyone really think the effort put into grammar/spelling/etc of TWEETS is reflective of IQ??? Online communications tend to be “stream of consciousness”, with thoughts flowing out the fingertips, with little or no concern for the niceties of formal writing….
