Body Rises From the Dead in Polish Morgue

In a creepy incident that took place on November 6, details are only now leaking out to the press.

Janina Kolkiewicz, 91, of Ostrow Lubelski, Poland was declared dead by the family doctor after her niece came home to find she had stopped breathing and didn’t have a pulse. Calling the doctor to come and check it out, the woman was declared dead and the body was taken to the local morgue.

About 11 hours later, funeral home workers heard rustling and movement in the morgue. Upon investigation of the noises, they discovered one of the bodies moving inside of one of the body bags. Stunned, workers ripped open the body bag to find a seemingly healthy, though cold, 91-year-old woman inside.

Dr. Wieslawa Czyz, the family physcian who wrote out Kolkiewicz’s death certificate said he was just as shocked as everyone else.

“I’m stunned. I don’t understand what happened. Her heart had stopped beating, she was no longer breathing,”

he told local paper Dziennik Wschodni.

Kolkiewicz’s niece took her home, where she complained of feeling cold and asked for a cup of hot tea, consuming a bowl of soup and two pancakes in the meantime. Other than the late-stage dementia Kolkiewicz already had, she appears to have suffered no brain damage or other adverse affects due to her long sleep in the morgue, much like the Florida woman who was dead for 45 minutes (click here for story).

Due to the dementia, Kolkiewicz has no recollection of the experience.
